Gucci Liberty collection is a collaboration between Gucci and a renowned London department store Liberty that was first introduced at Gucci's Fall Winter Fashion Show in 2020. Let's see what's available in this collection and whether it's worth the money.
Founded in 1875, Liberty's was always fond of art and culture and famous for floral print fabrics. Alessandro Michele, Gucci's creative director, worked with Liberty's archives to identify the retro designs and prints that were abandoned and almost not used at the time they were invented.
Michele, a lover of eclectic style that connects past and present, stated that picking these prints revived memories from the past and recreated them in the present. Living memories are a big idea behind this collection.
Gucci’s Autumn Winter 2020 fashion show in Milan showcased several interesting projects from the House, the most notable being that with Liberty.
The collaboration offers a wide selection of handbags, accessories, and clothes in delicate floral-themed prints that bring out the memories of the Liberty luxurious department store. While the key focus of this collection is clothing, as bag addicts we can't miss the 2 handbags that are available in the new print.
How Much Is Gucci Liberty Collection?
An average Gucci purse is around $2,000-3,000. This collection is no exception and the prices fall into the expected range. Here are some of the Gucci Liberty pieces and their USD prices:
Gucci 1955 Horsebit Bag - $2,650
This vintage-style design was an excellent match for a gentle floral print. Gucci 1955 Horsebit was recreated from retro design and introduced in the 2020 Cruise collection as a sleek and stylish shoulder bag with a spacious interior and with the horsebit hardware detailing.
Though the purse looks small and elegant, it offers a roomy interior with three gussets with one zipped pocket and one open pocket. This cutie fits much more than you realize and it'll become your most favorite closet piece in double-quick time than any other piece from this Gucci Liberty collection.
The Gucci Horsebit dimensions are 9.8″W x 7″H x 3.1″D. The strap can be adjusted from 9.8″ to a 17.7″ so you can easily make it a crossbody.
Gucci Horsebit 1955 Duffle Bag - $3,250
If you like larger bags, this collection has a perfect piece to offer. Here's a floral-printed duffle bag with a Liberty Art Nouveau style script in black on the front of the bag, connecting the grunge vibe of the black font with a whimsical flower motif.
The duffle bag will easily fit papers, laptop, cosmetics and anything you need to carry on a daily basis.
The dimensions are 15.5″W x 13.4″H x 5.7″D. The bag comes with a detachable and adjustable shoulder strap with a 20.5″ drop as well as a cute luggage tag for your collection.
Should You Buy This Collection?
The Liberty collection highlights the strengths Alessandro Michele brings to the brand – he creates something something bold and modern while pulling from some of the strongest memories and elements we crave from the past.
If you love retro designs and vintage always was a considerable part of your closet, this purse will be a perfect fit. Personally, I'd have to wait till next summer to use it though as our winter is snowy and the purse doesn't look like a perfect match with parka during cold winter.
If your winter is mild, you can consider this piece. Who knows, it might become your favorite!
